Research advances in effect of isocitrate dehydrogenase gene status on surgical strategies in diffuse gliomas

  • Isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) is an important molecular marker for molecular subtype classification in gliomas, which is of great significance for the diagnosis, individualized treatment and prognosis prediction of gliomas. Diffuse gliomas are difficult to be completely removed by surgery due to their invasive growth properties, while IDH gene status can affect surgical strategies and guide the extent of resection in diffuse glioma. This article reviews recent studies on molecular classification and surgical strategies and focuses on the impact of IDH gene status on surgical strategies for diffuse gliomas.
