Research advances in interaction between microRNAs and embryo implantation

  • Embryo implantation is a complex physiological process, and successful implantation mainly depends on three factors, including embryo quality or potential, normal endometrial condition, and the synchronous crosstalk between normal embryo and endometrium. Studies have shown that miRNA can be involved in embryonic development, the periodic changes of endometrium and the interactions between embryo and endometrium. Abnormal miRNA changes may lead to embryo implantation failure, and even cause recurrent implantation failure. In order to further understand the role of miRNA in the process of embryo implantation, this paper reviews the association between miRNA and embryo potential, endometrium as well as embryo-endometrium interaction.
