Evaluation of different modeling methods to establish hyperuricemia animal models

  • Hyperuricemia (HUA) is a metabolic disease caused by purine metabolism disorder. At present, the overall prevalence of HUA is increasing year by year, and the age of onset has become younger. HUA is an independent risk factor for a variety of cardiovascular risk events and related diseases. However, its pathogenesis has not been fully elucidated. Establishing a reliable animal model of hyperuricemia is the basis for studying its pathogenesis, related complications and therapeutic interventions. At present, the methods for establishing HUA animal models are complex and diverse, but there is no unified standard. Therefore, this paper discusses the species selection, the principle of modeling, and the preparation methods, and expounds the application value and potential problems of each modeling method, in order to provide reference for the establishment and replication of stable and reliable HUA animal models.
