Summary of best evidence for early motor rehabilitation nursing in stroke patients

  • Background Stroke represents a leading cause of mortality worldwide, with survivors in China facing a disproportionately high risk of long-term disability and a substantial decline in health-related quality of life. While early mobilization and exercise rehabilitation are well-established interventions for optimizing stroke outcomes, robust, systematic, and standardized evidence to guide nurse-led early rehabilitation nursing practice remains scarce. Objective To search, evaluate and summarize the best evidence of early motor rehabilitation nursing for stroke patients. Methods Literature related to early exercise rehabilitation nursing for stroke patients was retrieved from guideline websites and domestic and international databases in accordance with the "5S" evidence pyramid model, with the search period spanning from the inception of each database to December 2025. Two reviewers independently assessed the methodological quality of the included literature and extracted the evidence. Results A total of 17 publications were finally included, comprising 9 guidelines, 1 evidence summary, and 7 systematic reviews. Ultimately, 38 pieces of evidence were summarized across seven domains: organizational management, patient assessment, assessment tools, goal setting, rehabilitation nursing, health education, and personnel training. Conclusion The literature included in this study is of high quality overall, and the summary of evidence provides a valuable reference for conducting research and practice in stroke motor rehabilitation nursing.
