Stimulative effects of bFGF on the nonspecific phagocytosis of newborn bovine RPE cells in vitro

  • Objective: To observe the effects of bFGF (basic fibroblast growth factor) on the nonspecific phagocytosis of newborn bovine RPE cells in vitro. Methods: Primary newborn bovine RPE cells were cultured in vitro and immunocytochemical staining were performed for cell differentiation. bFGF were used at different concentrations and different durations. Chicken RBC (red blood cell) were used to judge the nonspecific phagocytosis. Results: The phagocytic count and phagocytic rate of RPE were increased by bFGF in concentration and time dependent manner compared with the control group. Conclusion: bFGF can stimulate the bovine RPE cells′nonspecific phagocytosis in vitro.
