Abstract
Objective:To evaluate the treatment for epiphyseal injuries of distal tibia in child. Methods:From 1995 to 2003, 19 patients(male 16,female3)with epiphyseal injuries of distal tibia were retrospectively analyzed. The average age at the time of treatment was 8.4 years with a range of 4.5 to 14 years. According to Salter-Harris’criterion of trauma type, 6 cases to typeⅠ,9 cases to typeⅡ, 3 cases to type Ⅲ (1 case was Tillaux fracture), 1 case to type Ⅳ. Closed reduction and opened reduction basis on the injury degree separately. Results:The average period of follow-up was 2.5 years (range, 1.5~5 years). 11 got excellent outcome, 6 were good, 2 were not good. Bone bridge resection and osteotomy were acted on 2 not good cases, the deformity were rectified. Conclusion:Salter-Harris’ typeⅠ、Ⅱshould adopt Closed reduction, type Ⅲ、Ⅳshould adopt open reduction. About 10°circa shifting were permited in young children, avoiding therapeutic injury for emphasize on anatomic reduction unilaterally.
