Abstract
Objective: To investigate the effects of electroacupuncture at head points on the function of cerebral motor area during the movement in stroke patients. Methods: To observe the change of glucose metabolism of cerebral motor area in stroke patients between pre-acupuncture and after acupuncture during the movement using PET.Results: The significant changes of metabolic function were exhibited in MI, PMC, Lps bilaterally, as well as the SMA of healthy side after acupuncture. Conclusion: Acupuncture at head points might activate the cerebral motor area bilaterally, and induce the excitation of nerve tissue connecting with motion. Acupuncture could also equalize the injury nervous network and reconstruct the its function.
