Studies of Astragalus extraction on immune regulator

  • Objective: To investigate the immunoregulation of Astragalus extraction. Methods: Three concentrations of Astragalus extraction and a control groups have been divided. The Immune function of Astragalus extraction was studied by a serial experiments in vitro and in vivo include spleen and thymus weight ratio, DTH assay, ConA-induced mice lymphocyte transformationtest test, antibodies formation in spleens, HC50,monocyte-Macrophage carbon grain elimination test,Macrophage swallow chicken erythrocyte test, NK cells living activities assay. Results: The results showed that Astragalus extraction was not affected the weight of the mice and spleen and thymus weight ratio, but significant increase toe thickenss. It was non-significant to ConA induced mice Lymphocyte transformationtest. The formation of antibodies is increased in mid and high concentrations comparison with the control, while no-significant changes in low dose; HC50 raised in all three concentrations; ratio of monocyte-macrophage carbon grain elimination has non-significant changes to three treatment groups; Macrophage swallow gallinaceous erythrocyte test showed improve in mid and high dose Astragalus extraction; and NK cells living activities displayed non-significant changes comparing to the control. Conclusion: Astragalus extraction possesses a potential effect of immune regulation.
