Study of the changes of mandibular condyle position before and after fixed bridges in heavy abrison and TMD patients

Ojbective: To observe the changes of mandibular condyle position before and after fixed bridges in heavy abrison and TMD patients.Methods: Fixed bridges were used to treat 12 patients with heavy abrison and TMD when normal vertical dimension were restoration.The Schuller's positional radiographs were taken before and after treatment.Joint spaces between the glenoid fossa were measured on the centric occlusion.Results: The mandibular condyle position were displaced 1.94mm,3.07mm,2.56mm before treatment.And after treatment were 1.88mm,2.22mm,2.48mm.There was statistical differences in the changes of anterior and postern spaces.（P＜0.05,P＜0.01）.Conclusion: The patients with heavy abrison and TMD treated with fixed bridges could obtain normal vertical dimension.The mandibular condyle positions could be moved into suitable position.
