Abstract
Objective To study the secretion characteristics of tumor markers in patients with disturbance of carbohydrate metabolism and the correlation between tumor markers and fasting blood glucose(FBG) level. Methods One hundred and fifty-four patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM) served as a diabetic group and 147 healthy subjects served as a control group in this study.Their tumor markers were detected with Roche E170 hol-automatic immune analyzer and their FBG level was measured with Roche C8000 automatic biochemical analyzer. The patients were divided into group A,group B and group C according to their FBG level(3.4 ≤ FBG ≤ 8.0mmol/L),8.014.0mmol/L).Correlation between tumor markers and FBG level was analyzed. Results The mean CEA,CA199,CA125,CA153,CYFRA21-1 and NSE were significantly higher in T2DM group than in control group(2.23μg/L vs 1.57μg/L,11.80U/ml vs 8.12U/ml,10.67U/ml vs 7.97U/ml,10.30U/ml vs 7.4U/ml, 2.58ng/ml vs 1.53 ng/ml,10.56ng/ml vs 9.5ng/ml,P<0.01).The abnormal rate of DM-related tumor markers was CYFRA21-1>CEA>CA199>CA125>CA153>NSE.The CA199 level increased with the elevated FBG level. The CEA and CA125 levels were correlated with gender in T2DM group. The CEA level was significantly higher in males than in females(2.45μg/L vs 1.64μg/L,P<0.01) while the CA125 level was significantly higher in females than in males(11.67U/ml vs 10.17U/ml,P<0.05).The CA199 level was positively correlated with age(r=0.161,P<0.05). Conclusion DM can increase the level of many tumor markers.
