Abstract
Objective To study the treatment of inguinal hernia in children and the prevention of its complications. Methods Therapeutic effect in 252 children with inguinal hernia admitted to our hospital from January 2000 to December 2011 and its complications were summarized with its related literature reviewed. Results Of the 252 patients(214 males and 38 females) included in this study,140 were cured after incision of inguinal canal under general anesthesia and 1 was cured after incision of bladder as a hernial sac,112 were cured after a small incision by intravenous anesthesia and 1 was cured after ligation of femoral vein as a hernial sac and immediate anastomosis of the implanted great saphenous vein, who had edema in the lower limb after 1 year followup. The patients were followed up for 1-10 years, during which no recurrence and complications occurred. Conclusion Abdominal transaction is rather effective for repair of inguinal hernia in children with mild injury and rapid recovery.Small incision and blind clamping should be avoided.Transversalic fascia hiatus should be repaired when necessary in order to prevent complications.
