Abstract
Objective To analyze the distribution of age and gender in hip fracture patients. Methods A total of 2 454 hip fracture patients with their age > 50 years, admitted to our hospital from 1992 to 2011, were divided into male group and female group. Each group was divided into 5 subgroups according to ages. Distribution of age and gender, and correlation of hip fracture with age and gender were analyzed in different subgroups. Results Of the 2 454 hip fracture patients, males and females accounted for 40% and 60%, respectively. The proportion of patients at the age of 71~80 years and 81~90 years was significantly higher than that of those at other ages(60% and 39.57% vs 28.24%, P< 0.05). Logistic regression analysis showed that gender and age were correlated with hip fracture(r=13.955, r=111.285, P< 0.05). Conclusion The distribution of age and gender is different in femoral neck fracture and intertrochanteric fracture patients. The proportion of hip fracture is higher in females than in males.
