Correlation between Gly482Ser polymorphism of PGC-1αgene and metabolic syndrome in pilots

  • Objective To study the correlation between Gly482Ser polymorphism of PGC-1αgene and metabolic syndrome(MS)in pilots. Methods Gly482Ser polymorphism of PGC-1αgene was detected by PCR in 42 MS pilots and 42 health controls. Results The GG, GA and AA genotypes of Gly482Ser in PGC-1αgene accounted for 28.6%, 45.2%, 26.2% in MS pilots and 52.4%, 38.1%, 9.5% in healthy controls (P< 0.05).The frequency of A allele was significantly higher in MS pilots than in healthy controls (48.8% vs 28.6%, P< 0.01). Conclusion The polymorphism of Gly482Ser in PGC-1αgene is correlated with MS in pilots.The A allele may be a susceptible gene.
