Expression of Shh and Gli-1 in non-small cell lung cancer and its significance

  • Objective To study the expression of Shh and Gli-1 in human non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC) and its adjacent tissues and the correlation of abnormal Shh and Gli1 expression with NSCLC. Methods Expressions of Shh and Gli-1 in NSCLC and its adjacent tissues were detected by immunohistochemistry. Results The expression levels of Shh and Gli1 were lower in adjacent tissues of NSCLC than in NSCLC, and significantly correlated with the differentiation and lymphatic metastasis of NSCLC but not with the histological types. Conclusion Abnormal expressions of Shh and Gli-1 indicate that the Hedgehog pathway may be involved in the occurrence and progression of NSCLC.
