Treatment of relapsed hairy cell leukemia with cladribine: A case report and review of literature

Abstract
Objective To study the treatment strategies and methods of hairy cell leukemia(HCL) by analyzing 1 case of relapsed HCL after treated with cladribine. Methods The clinical features, treatment methods and their effect, and adverse reactions of 1 case of relapsed HCL admitted to our hospital in April 2012 and treated with cladribine were analyzed with the related literature reviewed. Results The symptoms of the patient were partially alleviated 3 months after treated with cladribine. The patient was followed up for 5 months during which the symptoms were continuously and partially alleviated. Conclusion Cladribine is effective for HCL with few adverse reactions and good tolerance, and can thus be used in treatment of Chinese HCL patients.
