Correlation between P-selectin gene polymorphism and coronary heart disease

  • Objective To study the correlation between P-selectin gene polymorphism and coronary heart disease(CHD). Methods Two hundred CHD patients admitted to our hospital from June 2012 to April 2013 served as a CHD group and 210 subjects undergoing physical examination served as a control group in this study. Polymorphism of their P-selectin genes -2123C/G,-1969G/A and -1817T/C was detected by PCR-RELP and DNA sequencing, respectively. CHD patients were further divided into angina pectoris group, myocardial infarction group and ischemic heart failure group. Difference in polymorphism of P-selectin genes -2123C/G, -1969G/A and -1817T/C was observed in different types of CHD. Results The frequency of P-selectin gene -2123C/G and allelic gene was significantly higher in CHD group than in control group(χ2=6.124, P=0.047; χ2=7.355, P=0.008) and in myocardial infarction group and ischemic heart failure group than in control group(χ2=6.473, P=0.039; χ2=13.944, P=0.001). However, no significant difference was found in the frequency of P-selectin genes -1817T/C and -1969G/A and allelic gene between CHD group and control group(P> 0.05). Conclusion P-selectin gene -2123C/G polymorphism is correlated with CHD.
