Observation ofⅠ¹²⁵seed implantation in the treatment of maxillofacial adenoid cystic carcinoma

Objective To observe the clinical effect ofⅠ¹²⁵seed implantation in the treatment of maxillofacial adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC). Methods Of the 81 maxillofacial ACC cases in our team from February 2006 to February 2013, 70 cases were injectedⅠ¹²⁵seeds by puncture needle into the tumor bed after resection, 11 cases were injected without resection. Results The duration of follow-up ranged in 4-73 months, the efficiency (RR) was 100%, 13 of the 81 patients with the problem of fever, pain, pigmentation, anabrosis, fistula and other complications which could be alleviated by symptomatic treatment. Conclusion Maxillofacial ACC is sensitive to internal exposure ofⅠ¹²⁵. It is a safe, effective, little side effect method to treat ACC withⅠ¹²⁵.
