Advances in inhibitory effect of VEGF165b on tumor angiogenesis

  • VEGF can result in angiogenesis-stimulating VEGFxxx isoforms and angiogenesis- inhibiting VEGFxxxb isoforms after the VEGF gene is differentially spliced. The function of VEGF165b has the representative position in the VEGFxxxb family. The VEGF165b plays an important role in inhibiting tumor angiogenesis due to its advantages of natural body production and nonimmunogenicity, and can thus be used in treatment of tumor by up- regulating the over-expression of exogenous recombinant protein or promoting the alternative splicing of VEGF exon 8b.
