Abstract
Objective To study the value of 128-layer spiral CT in diagnosis of upper urinary tract congenital malformation. Methods Clinical data about 44 patients(23 males and 21 females with the ages ranging from 16 to 87) with upper urinary trait congenital malformation admitted to our hospital from May 2011 to December 2013 wre retrospectively analyzed. The patients underwent 128-layer spiral CT scanning. Their imaging data were processed by 2-dimensional multiple-plane reconstruction, camber reconstruction, maximal density projection, and 3-dimensional volume representation, respectively. Results Of the 44 patients, 8 were diagnosed with renal fusion malformation, 2 with anomaly of kidney, 13 with stricture of ureter, 11 with repetitive nephroureter malformation, 5 with ureter cyst(including 1 with complications of stone and homolateral repetitive ureter deformity), 2 with giant ureter, 1 with renal dysplasia, 1 with ureter atresia, and 1 with ureter valve. Conclusion 128- layer spiral CT can clearly display upper urinary tract congenital malformation and its complications, thus providing scientific and reliable image information for its clinical diagnosis.
