Effect of different digestive tract reconstruction methods on life quality of patients with advanced gastric cancer

  • Objective To investigate the effect of different digestive tract reconstruction methods on life quality of patients with advanced gastric cancer. Methods Ninety-two patients with advanced gastric cancer in department of oncology, The First People's Hospital of Lanzhou were selected, and they were divided into A, B, C group. BillrothⅠ, BillrothⅡ and Roux-en-Y digestive tract reconstruction were performed. The life quality improvement before and after the reconstruction were compared. Results There were statistically significant differences in total serum protein (64.24±8.76) g/L vs (62.54±9.76) g/L vs (68.65±11.43) g/L and former albumin (336.56±67.76) g/L vs (330.76±61.65) g/L vs (346.65±83.54) g/L in three groups (P<0.05). However, there was no significant difference in hemoglobin (P>0.05). Before the reconstruction of the digestive tract, the life quality of patients in three groups had no significant difference (P>0.05). After the reconstruction of digestive tract, there was no difference in quality of life between group B and group A (P>0.05), while, the life quality of group C was higher than group A and group B (84.95±13.27) vs (70.58±9.35) vs (72.15±10.32) (P<0.05). Conclusion All three digestive tract reconstruction methods are helpful in improving the life quality of patients, among which Roux-en-Y reconstruction is more effective.
