Blood pressure and heart rate fluctuation during dry needle of inner heating treating on patients with lumbar disc herniation complicated with hypertension

  • Objective To monitor the fluctuations of blood pressure and heart rate during dry needle of inner heating treating on lumbar disc herniation patients with hypertension, analyze the safety of dry needle of inner heating treating on such diseases. Methods Clinical data about 107 patients with lumbar disc herniation admitted to rehabilitation department of Chinese PLA General Hospital from March to October in 2015 were enrolled and divided into two groups according to whether complicated with hypertension disease, 48 hypertension patients were served as observation group and 59 non-hypertensive patients as control group. Patients had undergone dry needle of inner heating treatment, and the changes of heart rate and blood pressure during treatment were compared. Results The blood pressure of patients in two groups was higher during acupuncture and anesthesia compared with before and after treatment. The systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, heart rate of observation group during treatment was (3.27±13.98) mmHg, (2.08±8.15) mmHg, 2.48±6.58/min, respectively, while it was (2.03±12.51) mmHg, (0.41±9.61) mmHg, 1.34±8.18/min in control group, with no significant differences between two groups (P> 0.05). The incidence of blood pressure and heart rate rising above a base value of 20% showed no significant difference between two groups (P> 0.05). All patients completed treatment successfully without obvious discomfort and cardiovascular accident. Conclusion Patients with hypertension disease undergoing dry needle of inner heating treatment proves to be safe, few patients complicating with hypertension disease have transient increases, and dynamic ECG monitoring should be used during treatment.
