Advances in relationship between vitamind-binding protein and sepsis

  • Vitamind-binding protein (VDBP) is a multi-functional plasma protein with many important functions which include transport of vitamind metabolites, sequestration of actin, macrophage activation, neutrophil chemotaxis and activation of osteoclast in modulating immune and inflammatory responses. The serum concentrations of VDBP in patients with sepsis willdecrease remarkably, so it is important for observing the serum levels of VDBPdynamically to predict the occurrence and prognosis of sepsis.
