Relationship between HMGB1 and autophagy

  • High mobility group box-1 protein (HMGB1) is a type of nuclear-related protein with various functions, and autophagy is a programmed cell survival mode.Currently, a number of studies have found the presence of a complex relationship between HMGB1 and autophagy. In tissues and cells, HMGB1 can serve as an important medium which regulates autophagy through a series of signaling pathways at different levels, which therefore causes corresponding changes in cell function and structure. In this paper, the relationship between HMGB1 and autophagy will be discussed briefly.
