Research progress on cerebrospinal fuid biomarkers of sporadic Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease

The clinical manifestation in the early stage of sporadic Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (sCJD) lacks of specificity, which may cause diffculty in the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of sCJD. Moreover, pathological examination is diffcult to carry out because a brain biopsy or an examination of brain tissue can confrm sCJD only after death. So the specifc cerebrospinal fuid biomarkers, imaging and electrophysiological examination will be the necessary means to diagnose sCJD. Among them, the detection of specifc cerebrospinal fuid biomarkers is the most immediate, simple and acceptable way. In this paper, the specifc cerebrospinal fuid biomarkers for sCJD in nearly ten years' literature are reviewed.
