Advances in evaluation and screening for post-stroke dysphagia

Abstract
Post-stroke dysphagia (PSD) is a common problem in patients with stroke, and it often accompanies with a variety of complications, which not only has dramatic impacts on the prognosis of patients and decrease their life quality, but also bring major burdens to family and society. Therefore, patients should be screened for dysphagia as soon as possible after stroke and early rehabilitative training should also be carried out, which may be helpful for preventing the occurrence of dysphagia-related complications. This article reviews the bedside assessment and screening of post-stroke dysphagia, laboratory assessment and screening, and the strategy of PSD evaluation and screening, in order to guide clinical practice.
