Effect of space capsule environment and simulated microgravity on biological characteristics of staphylococcus

  • Staphylococcus, one of the most widespread bacteria in nature, has a special distribution that is different from the ground condition and significant changes in its biological characteristics under complex space capsule environment and simulated microgravity. The expression of resistance gene of staphylococcus epidermidis is up-regulated, and the mutation frequency increases obviously, while the resistance and virulence of staphylococcus aureus shows different changes. This uncertain variation increases the potential threat of pathogenic staphylococcus to humans, and also makes it become a hotspot in the study of space microbiology.
