Abstract
Negative-pressure wound therapy (NPWT) has consistently shown significant clinical effectiveness in treatment of refractory wound. Researches into the mechanism of NPWT will be helpful to its clinical application and device design. This review focuses on the current research advances in mechanism of NPWT which can be divided into two parts: macrodeformation, including wound contraction, mechanical stress, fluid removal and environmental control of the wound; microdeformation, including modulation ofinflammation, neuropeptides, cytokines and bacterial levels.
