Abstract
Objective To observe the effect of hydrogen-rich water, traditional Chinese medicine(Jinfukang oral liquid,JFK)or their combined intervention on tumorigenesis of cholangiocarcinoma. Methods Adult male SD rats were divided into four groups in this study, including the control group(n=10),the hydrogen-rich water group(n=10),the JFK group(n=5)and the hydrogen-rich water+JFK group(n=5).Rats in control group were given free-drinking water containing thioacetamide(300 mg/L),while those in the experimental groups were given drinking water containing thioacetamide as well as hydrogen-rich water,JFK,or both.At 20 weeks after initiation, all rats were sacrificed, and the livers were carefully examined under the microscope. Results All ratable rats(n=9)(9/9)in the control group formed visible or microscopic tumors at 20 weeks,57.1%of rats(4/7)developed microscopic tumors in the hydrogen-rich water group,40%(2/5)developed microscopic tumors in the JFK group, while none of the rats(0/5)developed tumors in the hydrogen-rich water+JFK group. Conclusion The synergistic effect of hydrogen-enriched water and JFK can successfully block the occurrence of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma in rats.
