Effect of impulse magnetotherapy combined rehabilitation training on patients with rotator cuff injury following arthroscopic surgery

Abstract
Objective To evalulate the effect of impulse magnetotherapy combined rehabilitation training on patients with rotator cuff injury following arthroscopic surgery. Methods From June to December in 2018,22 patients with rotator cuff injury treated by arthroscopic surgery in the first medical center of Chinese PLA General Hospital were randomly divided into impulse magnetotherapy group and control group.The two groups both followed rehabilitation program,and only the impulse magnetotherapy group received magnetotherapy after rehabilitation programs.Clinical outcomes assessment included VAS score,UCLA scoring system and Constant-Murley Shoulder Outcome Score at 1,3 and 5 months after surgery. Results There was no significant difference in baseline data between the two groups.After treatment,the VAS score decreased significantly,and the Constant-Murley Shoulder Outcome Score and UCLA score increased significantly over time (all P<0.05).The VAS score was significantly lower in impulse magnetotherapy group when compared with control group at all time points (5 months after surgery,0.67±0.87 vs 2.57±1.13,P<0.05);The Constant-Murley Shoulder Outcome Score was significantly higher in the impulse magnetotherapy group when compared with the control group at all time points (5 months after surgery,87.56±7.14 vs 74.86±8.47,P<0.05);No significant difference was found in UCLA scoring between the two groups at all time points. Conclusion The impulse magnetotherapy is effective to reduce the pain of the shoulder following arthroscopic rotator cuff repair,which is helpful for the rehabilitation exercise progress and improving the mobility of the upper limb.
