Abstract
Objective To evaluate the effect of cervical local-point traction manipulation plus medication treatment for cervical brachial pain symptom. Methods Two hundred patients diagnosed with cervical brachial pain and treated in the first medical center of Chinese PLA General Hospital from August 2012 to July 2018 were randomly divided into two groups, with 100 cases in each group. The trial group received cervical local-point traction manipulation combined with Hongyao strapping, and the control group treated with Hongyao strapping only for 4 consecutive weeks. There were 55 males and 45 females in the trial group, aged from 25 to 75 years. The control group had 54 males and 46 females, aged from 20 to 70 years. The disease course of both groups was 1-20 months. The cervical brachial pain and subjective improving rate were evaluated by visual analogue scale (VAS) before and at 3 months after treatment. Results Before treatment, the cervical brachial pain score in the trial group was 6.9±0.9,while it was 7.1±0.8 in the control group, without significant difference (P>0.05).At 3 months after treatment, the cervical brachial pain score markedly decreased to 3.3±0.6 in the trial group (P<0.05);in the control group,it did not change significantly (6.9±0.8);no significant difference was observed between the two groups (P>0.05).Besides,subjective improving rate was remarkably higher in the trial group than that in the control group (48.20%±0.77% vs 0.25%±0.07%,P=0.000). Conclusion The cervical local-point traction manipulation combined with Hongyao strapping has good effect on cervical brachial pain symptom.
