Abstract
Objective To investigate the psychological service and training requirements of grassroots military doctors. Methods FromNovember 26 to 30 in 2018,a total of 125 grassroots military psychological medical doctors who participated in the first training course of practical techniques for military psychologists were surveyed by questionaires. The questionaire included education level,part-time or full-time,length of employ, knowledge and skill of psychology and mental heath, difficulties and demands in their mental health practice. Results Most grassroots military doctors had bachelor's degree, and most of them were doing part-time psychological work,68.8% of the doctors had less than 50 hours of psychotherapy time. They lacked psychosomatic knowledge, and had a high demand for specialized training in psychotherapy techniques. Conclusion The grassroots military medical doctors are incompetent to provide clinical psychological service, and most of them are part-time psychologists with insufficient specialized training. This situation suggests that we should strengthen specialized skill training and supervision for grassroots military psychologist under the basis of needs of the army.
