Objective To explore the clinical management and epidemiological measures to a second-generation patient with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and her close contacts, so as to identify the asymptomatic cases earlier and stop the spreading of COVID-19.
Methods On February 5, 2020, a 49-year-old female patient was admitted to People's Hospital of Leshan, and she's the second-generation sufferer of COVID-19 and infected by her son-in-law. She was tested positive after 15 days' quarantine.
Results The patient remained asymptomatic during the whole medical observation, but the 2019-nCoV nucleic acid test of pharyngeal swab was positive before she was discharged. And her clinical symptoms gradually appeared.
Conclusion Centralized isolation and medical observation are necessary and should be recommended for COVID-19 close contacts. And to avoid missing asymptomatic cases and COVID-19 transmission, for the patients under quarantine, 2019-nCoV nucleic acid detection is necessary before discharged.
