Research advances in vaginal injury after radiotherapy for cervical cancer

  • As a common gynecological tumor, cervical cancer is the most common malignancy of the female genital tract in China.Radiotherapy, including postoperative adjuvant radiotherapy, radical radiotherapy and palliative radiotherapy,is an important treatment for cervical cancer, and is performed to nearly 80% patients. While remarkable curative effects are achieved, special attentions should be paid to the complications caused by radiotherapy, such as radioactive enteritis, radioactive cystitis, radioactive vaginitis, etc. These complications not only affect the subsequent treatments, but also lower the life quality of the patients. Here is a review of the vaginal injury caused by radiotherapy and the related treatments.
