Reliability and validity of Chinese version of Cardiac Self-Blame Attributions scale

Objective To translate and localize the Cardiac Self-Blame Attributions scale (CSBA scale) and verify the attribution for patients with coronary heart disease,and explore the attribution evaluation tool that is suitable for patients with cardiovascular disease (CVD) in China. Methods Authorized by Bennett,author of the original Cardiac Self-Blame Attributions scale,we used the Brislin model to translate and back translate the English version of Cardiac Self-Blame Attributions scale with cross-culturally adaption to form the Chinese version.From September to November in 2019,the convenience sampling method was used to enroll patients with coronary heart disease in our hospital for a sample survey.The questionnaire consisted of general information and Cardiac Self-Blame Attributions scale,while the Cardiac Self-Blame Attributions scale included behavioral self-blame and Characterological self-blame.On this basis,the reliability and validity of the scale were evaluated. Results A total of 110 questionnaires were distributed and returned,and 107 questionnaires were valid.Among the 107 patients participating in the survey,71 cases were male (66.36%) and 36 cases were female (33.64%),with the average age of (61.70±12.28) years and the average score of (23.21±6.14) for CSBA scale.After item analysis,we deleted the original item 2 (To what extent do you accept fault for behaviors that may have caused your heart disease).The CVI of items ranged from 0.86 to 1.00,and CVI of the scale was 0.96.Two factors were extracted by exploratory factor analysis,and the cumulative explained variance was 66.4%.The Cronbach's α coefficient of the total scale was 0.830,and the split-half reliability was 0.870. Conclusion Chinese version of Cardiac Self-Blame Attributions scale contains 10 items in 2 dimensions and has good reliability and validity,which is suitable for assessing attribution of coronary heart disease patients in China.
