Research advances in animal models of tendinopathy

  • Animal models of tendinopathy are usually made by treadmill and collagenase injection. However, different methods have their own advantages and disadvantages.Animal treadmill model conforms to the natural process of tendinopathy, but the cost of modeling is high, with low success rate and partially successful in some parts of body.Chemical drug induction model has high success rate and low cost, but its mechanism is different from that of human tendon disease, which can only be used in some specific researches, and its application in the study to mechanism of tendon disease is greatly limited.Animal treadmill models are usually suitable for the study of tendon disorders caused by chronic mechanical loading, while chemical drug-induced models are more suitable for the study of defective healing process after chemical intervention. Therefore, different animal models are used according to different research purposes.
