Effect of rehabilitation training on ankle dorsiflexion function after stroke:motion control and feedback training versus traditional manual therapy

Abstract
Objective To evaluate the effect of intelligent motion control and feedback training system on ankle dorsiflexion after stroke. Methods From August 2018 to August 2019,20 stroke patients in our hospital were assigned into experimental group (n=10) and control group (n=10) by simple random grouping.The experimental group was treated with the intelligent motion control and feedback training system for ankle dorsiflexion training,while the control group was treated with traditional manual therapy.The treatment course was 8 weeks,and the effects of two treatments on AROM of ankle dorsiflexion,comprehensive spasm index (CSS),IEMG of maximum isometric voluntary contraction (MIVC),muscle synergistic contraction rate (CCR) and the times of ankle flexion and extension in 10s were compared. Results After 8 weeks of treatment,except that the spasticity score of the control group had no significant change (P>0.05),each observation index of the two groups was significantly improved compared with the baseline (all P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the IEMG value of MIVC (407.32±116.27 μV×s vs 446.23±104.57 μV×s,P=00.442) between the two groups.The AROM of ankle dorsiflexion in the experimental group was significantly higher than that in the control group (12.37±2.11° vs 9.92±2.89°,P=00.044),and the times of ankle flexion and extension in 10 s were significantly higher than that in the control group (5.91±1.66 vs 4.20±1.23,P=00.018).The score of triceps spasm in the experimental group was significantly lower than that in the control group (11.20±0.59 vs 12.25±1.11,P=00.017),and CCR value was also significantly lower (26.28±7.31% vs 32.47±5.63%,P=00.048). Conclusion Intelligent motion control and feedback training system can effectively improve ankle flexion dysfunction in stroke patients,which is superior to traditional manual therapy.
