Clinical application of cardiopulmonary ultrasound in multiple organ dysfunction syndrome after severe trauma

  • Patients have high mortality with multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS) after severe trauma. Early and correct evaluation of cardiac functions, pneumonic condition and cardiopulmonary haemodynamics, can increase the successful rate of cure and decrease the death rate. Cardiopulmonary ultrasound (CPUS), the combination of lung ultrasound and echocardiography, can be used to evaluate cardiac structure, function and lung lesions, thus providing an effective visual reference for the clinical diagnosis and treatment. The application value of cardiopulmonary ultrasound in patients with multiple organ dysfunction syndrome after severe trauma is reviewed in this article.
