Biomechanical experiments for fracture fixation

  • In recent years, new internal fixation methods used in fracture surgery have emerged, and new implants often need to be verified by biomechanical experiments before they are used in clinical practice for providing strong evidence for clinical application. At present, due to the lack of consensus on the design of biomechanics experiments, the experimental conditions in the literatures are different. This article aims to review the current common mechanical loading forms, test specimens and their respective advantages and disadvantages. At the same time, some experimental settings and clinical relevance are discussed.
