Abstract
Microtubule affinity-regulating kinase 4 (MARK4) has made remarkable achievements in the treatment of cancer, neurodegeneration and metabolic syndrome, which impresses the researchers in recent years. While the relationship between MARK4 and cardiovascular diseases is still under discovery. It is vital to determine the mechanism of MARK4 and its role in the progression of cardiovascular disease. Here we review the structural characteristics, physiological functions, research advances in cardiovascular diseases and potential inhibitors of MARK4, and investigate whether MARK4 can be used as a potential drug target to combat the occurrence and development of cardiovascular diseases.
