Therapeutic effect of Bosentan on pulmonary arterial hypertension in 42 patients

Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of Bosentan on pulmonary arterial hypertension（PAH） in 42 patients. Methods Six- minute walking distance（6MWD）, pulmonary artery pressure（PAP） on color Doppler echocardiography, arterial blood gas, and cardiac heart function of 42 patients with PAH were observed 14 days before and after the patients were treated with oral Bosentan. Results The 6MWD increased 37-139.5m（72.3±39.5m）, the PAP decreased 8-37mmHg（16.5±8.2mmHg）, the PaO2 increased 16-31mmHg（22.3±5.8mmHg）, the PaCO2 decreased 8-23mmHg（14.8±6.7mmHg）, the cardiac function improved 1 grade after the patients were treated with oral Bosentan. Conclusion Oral Bosentan can significantly improve the endurance and decrease the pulmonary artery pressure of patients with PAH.
