Recurrent polychondritis misdiagnosed as asthma:A report of 2 cases and review of the literature

Objective To analyze the clinical features,diagnosis and treatment of recurrent polychondritis（RP） misdiagnosed as asthma in 2 cases. Methods Clinical data about 2 cases of RP misdiagnosed as asthma were analyzed,and its epidemiology,diagnosis and treatment were summarized. Results RP manifested mainly as asthma and its diagnosis was established according to the results of thoracic CT,lung function,brochoscopy or biopsy.The symptoms of RE were improved after treatment with glucocorticoid hormone and immunosuppressant. Conclusion RP is mainly manifested as asthma and should be excluded if asthma fails to respond to regular treatment.
