Abstract
Objective To study the correlation between plasma growth differentiation factor(GDF) 15 level and coronary artery lesion in patients with non-ST-segment elevation acute coronary syndrome(ACS). Methods One hundred and twelve patients with non-ST-segment elevation ACS were enrolled as an experiment group and 101 individuals with normal coronary artery served as a control group.Serum GDF-15 levels were measured in experiment group.Plasma GDF-15 levels were compared in two groups and further compared in different subgroups of patients with non-ST-segment elevation ACS to observe the correlation between GDF-15 levels and ACS with no ST-elevation and coronary artery lesion. Results The plasma GDF-15 levels were significantly higher in non-ST-elevation ACS patients than in controls with normal coronary artery(P<0.05).The serum GDF-15 levels were significantly higher in non-ST-elevation ACS patients with lesions of several blood vessels than in those with lesions of a single blood vessel(P<0.01). Conclusion Plasma GDF-15 level is a new biomarker for non-ST-elevation ASCS and related with the extent of coronary artery lesion in patients with non-ST-elevation ACS.
