The prevalence and clinical risk factors of microangopathy in type 2 diabetes mellitus

  • Objective: To investigate the prevalence and clinical risk factors of DMIP in type 2 DM. Methods: Retrospect investigation was performed on 1 217 patients with type 2 DM who were hospitalized or in the out patient department in our hospital from 1993 to 1998. The patients were classified based on the present or absent of DRP or DNP. The prevalence of DRP and DNP were calculated. The risk factors of DMIP were determined. Results: The prevalence of DRP was 24.9%, among which the prevalence of BDP and PDR was 21.0% and 3. 9% respectively. The prevalence of DNP was 19 6%, among which the prevalence of MAU, CPU and CRF was 10.0%, 5. 9% and 3.4% respectively. The logistic analysis showed COUR, MBP, HbA1c, DUP and DNP were the risk factors for DRP; while COUR, MBP, HbA1c, TG, CH, DUP and DRP were the risk factors of DNP. Conclusion: The prevalence of DRP and DNP in our study was 24.9% and 19.3% respectively. The COUR, MBP, HbA1c, DUP and DNP were the risk factors for DRP; COUR, MBP, HbA1c, TG, CH, DUP and DRP were the risk factors of DNP.
