Thrombolytic effects of the alkaline fibrinolytic enzyme: A new fibrinolytic protease

  • Objective: The thrombolytic effects of the alkaline fibrinolytic enzyme (AFE) on canine coronary thrombosis were evaluated by a trial of orthogonal design. Methods: 12 canine animal models were reproduced by the copper coil method, and urokinase was used as the comparison agent. Results: The thrombus age, AFE dosage and infusion rate were the principal factors which affected the thrombolytic efficacy. While the kind of drug was a minimal factor. There was no significant difference among deferent protocols (P >0.05). The recanalization time and reocclusion time were similar between AFE and urokinase groups (P >0.05). Conclusion: We conclude that Alkaline fibrinoltic enzyme infusion intracoronaryly has the similar thrombolytic effects as those of urokinase in the copper coil induced canine coronary thrombosis model.
