Effect of huaier granules on immune function in patients with breast cancer after modified radical mastectomy

Objective: To elucidate the effect of huaier granules on immune function in patients with breast cancer after modified radical mastectomy. Methods: Fifty patients with breast cancer after modified radical mastectomy were randomly divided into two groups: JINKE group,control group. JINKE group patients had been given huaier granules at 20 g,tid for 30 days from the pastoprative day 2-5, control group had been given same weight placebo. IgA, IgG, IgM, total lymphocyte count, peripheral blood T lymphocyte subset were measured. Results: After 30 days of oral JINKE intake, IgA, IgG, IgM, total lymphocyte count in JINKE group were significantly higher than that in control group. On the other hand, CD3 of JINKE group was increased significantly（P＜0.05） compared with the day before test and it remained almost the same in control group.In addition, CD3、 CD4/CD8 in JINKE group was significantly higher than that in control group too. Conclusion: Huaier granules helps to ameliorate the immune function in patients with breast cancer after modified radical mastectomy.
