Experimental study of rewarming seawater immersed hypothermic dogs by extracorporeal circulation

  • Objective:Extracorporeal circulation was used in rewarming immersed hypothermic dogs. Methods:Each dog was rewarmed by extracorporeal circulation through the femoral arterial to external jugular venous exchanger. Results: Core temperature of hypothermic dogs can be steadily elevated, and its hemodynamic parameters improved significantly after rewarming. Conclusions: Extracorporeal circulation may be one of effective methods to rewarm immersed hypothermic dogs.
