The research on the effect of behavior therapy and sport training to the aged hypertension

  • Objective: Study on the effect of behavior therapy and sport training for aged hypertension. Methods: 80 cases in stageⅠorⅡaged hypertension were treated with behavior therapy and sport training for 4 weeks. Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS), Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS), Type A Behavior Scale and blood pressure assessed the clinical effects. Results: Both systolic blood pressure (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) came out to be considerably lower than the pre-treatment (P<0.001). SAS significant descends (P<0.01) and SDS descends obviously(P<0.05) after treatment. Type A behavior significant descends, TH, CH and the summation scores have all come out be considerably lower than before the treatment. Conclusion: The result of the behavior therapy and sport training for aged hypertension, such as the reduction of blood pressure, alleviation to depression and anxiety as well as Type A behavior’s improvement, Show the therapy effectiveness on psychological improvement and short-term blood pressure reduction, which proves the therapy’s feasibility to become a comprehensive treatment to the aged hypertension
