The therapeutic effects of cilazapril on hypoxic pulmonary hypertension in rats

Objective: The experiment was designed to investigate the therapeutic effects of cilazapril on hypoxic pulmonary hypertension Methods: the hemodynamic variables, CEC and NO, tissue MDA and ACE determination and pathological observation by electron microscopy were performed and analysed. Results: Comparing both cilazapril and placebo groups, it showed that MPAP （2.85±0.22 kPa vs 3.58±0.20 kPa）,CEC（6.30±0.70/μl vs 7.63±0.50/μl）,ACE（38.70±4.62U vs 45.17±4.56 U） and MDA（26.29±4.81 nmol/mg vs 31.46±3.48 nmol/mg） decreased markedly（P＜0.01）,NO（24.00±4.21 mmol/L vs 19.86±1.80 mmol/L） rised obviously （P＜0.01）, as well as the pathological changes alleviated dramaticaly.Conclusion: the above date indicate that cilazapril may improve MPAP by reducing ACE, MDA and promoting NO productions and hence to alleviate the vascular endothelial injuries.
