The therapeutic effects of cilazapril on hypoxic pulmonary hypertension in rats

Abstract
Objective: The experiment was designed to investigate the therapeutic effects of cilazapril on hypoxic pulmonary hypertension Methods: the hemodynamic variables, CEC and NO, tissue MDA and ACE determination and pathological observation by electron microscopy were performed and analysed. Results: Comparing both cilazapril and placebo groups, it showed that MPAP (2.85±0.22 kPa vs 3.58±0.20 kPa),CEC(6.30±0.70/μl vs 7.63±0.50/μl),ACE(38.70±4.62U vs 45.17±4.56 U) and MDA(26.29±4.81 nmol/mg vs 31.46±3.48 nmol/mg) decreased markedly(P<0.01),NO(24.00±4.21 mmol/L vs 19.86±1.80 mmol/L) rised obviously (P<0.01), as well as the pathological changes alleviated dramaticaly.Conclusion: the above date indicate that cilazapril may improve MPAP by reducing ACE, MDA and promoting NO productions and hence to alleviate the vascular endothelial injuries.
