Abstract
Aluminum sulfate, a component of Kuzhi solution that is a traditional chinese compound medicine, was discovered to cause necrosis of rat testis and rabit papillae. Then the soluton (ASCS) was formulated by pharmacologic experiment.Under cystoscope, ASCS was injected into the root of papillary tumor with tube needle, causing. necrosis of the tumor and mucosa around the tumor. The depth and extent of injection were arranged by the operator.From 1977 to 1987, the efficfency rate of treatment with this method among 381 cases of transitional cell tumor (papilloma and papillary cancer grades Ⅰ and Ⅱ accounted for 95%) was 97.5%. The mean number of injections was 1.17 in the tumor ranging from 0.5 to 3.4cm, and 1.39 in that from 3.5 to 6cm. During a period of ten years, the recurrent rate was 30.5% in 315 new cases after treatment. All the recurrent tumors did not develop in the original area. Fitzparick et al reported that from 1970 to 1982 the total recurrent rate was 46.9% in 414 new cases (Ta, grades Ⅰ & Ⅱ) after transurethral resection (TUR). In an experiment, 14 and 30 days after S180 tumor cells, that had been treated with ASOS, were put into hypoderma or abdominal cavity of AMS, inbred stain rats, the living tumor cells stransmited into the animal body, and survival rate of the animals declined sharply, with significant statistic difference as compared with the control. Therefore. this method is simple and safe with little complication, anti can be used in the outpatient department.
