Abstract
A IgG immunofluorescent study of 56 cases of the renal tissue of necropsy material showed a linear fluorescence of the glomerular basement membrane in 17 cases (30%),a granular fluores- cence in 3 cases(5%),a massive fluorescence in 8 cases(14%).Of the 24 positive cases,4 sho- wed both linear and massive fluorescence simultaneously. It is well known that more than 95 percent of patients with glomerulonephritis are in the category of the immunologicallymediated renal diseases.Immunofluorescence examination of the re- nal tissue has become necessary for the diagnosis of renal diseases. Our observations suggest that the positive renal tissue immunofluorescence does not only occur with high incidence in necropsy materisl, and is not only limited to glomerulonephritis and immunologically mediated renal diseases, but nearly most common diseases may show this finding. Therefore,it appears that the value of this test in the diagnosis of glomerulonephritis is somewhat limiter.
